SDCOE Teacher Effectivenss and Preparation staff discuss credential requirements, and a district representative shares solutions and options for credentialing and teaching middle school exploratory and/or CTE courses.
Best practices from districts that have developed strong career pathway exploratory models, including a 6th grade "wheel" leading to deeper individual pathway offerings in grades 7 and 8 and onto high school.
Districts will share strategies for increasing awareness around college and career readiness programs, including the the role of counselors, outreach events, use of social media, and parent connections/engagement.
Districts share the steps to develop new pathway programs, including examples of a 6th grade exploratory 'Wheel' vs 7th/8th grade Career Pathway offerings, and how Labor Market Data is critical to developing pathway programs and ensuring industry relevance.
SDCOE's WBL Team reviews resources to virtually connect students with employers from all sectors and career readiness professional development opportunities for your school to develop an employer network and coordinate impactful student career events.
When and how are pathway program connections happening? Districts will discuss how they developed pathway pipelines from middle school to high school.
